Plan a rental-home arrival and handover before you travel
Published 5 November 2026

A clear arrival plan connects your travel arrangements with the provider’s actual handover process. It should identify where you are going, who is responsible for meeting or assisting you, and what happens if your arrival changes. Prepare those details directly with the provider rather than treating a directory listing as a confirmation of accommodation.
Check official travel requirements independently
Use the official Aruba immigration requirements and the official ED Card service when preparing your trip. Requirements depend on your circumstances and can change. A rental agreement or property enquiry is not permission to enter or remain in Aruba.
Recheck the authoritative guidance close to travel rather than relying on an old accommodation article or a provider’s informal summary. Keep any required travel records available through your own secure arrangements. This guide does not assess a traveler’s immigration position or replace official instructions.

Confirm the handover for the exact home
Ask the provider to confirm the property identifier, arrival address, permitted check-in window and authorized contact method. Make sure the address belongs to the home you researched, especially when a manager operates several nearby units. Keep private key instructions and access codes out of public messages and directory fields.
Agree how a delayed flight or changed arrival time will be communicated. Ask whether someone will meet you, whether a self-check-in process applies and what assistance is available if the instructions do not work. Do not assume that a late arrival is accepted simply because an advertisement says flexible check-in.
Think through the first evening
Plan how your group and luggage will reach the correct entrance. If you have a car, confirm the approved parking arrangement. If you expect to buy groceries before arrival, check that the timing fits your transport and check-in plan. Any expected journey time remains an estimate rather than a guaranteed schedule.
Ask about the practical essentials you need immediately: lighting at the entrance, how to contact the provider, and where the written household instructions will be available. If someone has an access requirement, confirm the relevant route and room arrangement before travel rather than waiting to inspect it at the door.
Record condition without exposing private information
At handover, compare the home with the agreed description and note any material differences. Ask the provider how to document existing damage or a missing facility. Photographs can help create a dated record, but avoid including other guests, private resident details or access codes in anything shared publicly.
Locate the information the provider supplies about operating equipment, disposing of rubbish and reporting a problem. If a facility is not working, contact the responsible provider through the agreed channel and keep a record of the response. Do not assume that a directory operator can arrange repairs or resolve a contract dispute.
Agree departure as well as arrival
Before the end of the stay, clarify the departure time, key-return method and any agreed condition check. Keep the provider’s written instructions together with the original property reference. If a policy or charge is unclear, ask the provider for the applicable written terms; this website does not invent a standard fee or refund rule.
